Ramblings of a Cluttered Mind...

Cluttered mind... Cluttered house... but maybe there is hope, if I can just dump my thoughts here...

Ugh!!! Power Outage!!!

Well, we fell victim to a mad, suicide squirrel, who was willing to give his life to disable my power for an hour and a half today (the surge blew the transformer - big bada boom, followed by the unmistakable beep-beep-beep of all the UPSs going off). Trust me, I couldn't make up shit this good!!!

On the up side, I took the opportunity without power to start cleaning out the carport (including assembling the new toy storage unit... see:

Note: the "lovely" picture of our new Generator "still in its box"... if only I had gotten a little more motivated and hooked it up sooner.

Laundry Room update...

Well, I can't believe that January is almost over already... I just blinked...

Anyways, it has taken me almost a month to get back on the wagon, with slowly getting my house cleaned and organized... but I went to Home Depot last night and found the greatest deal on some 16" x 16" tiles ($0.98/each), so I bought all they had (and I will be going back to buy another pallet (20 boxes) that they have found.

John has been in bed sick all weekend, and Erik had a friend sleepover last night, but by 3pm I was started on the flooring of my Laundry Room.

...took a break to pickup Devon from a playdate, and pickup some dinner, and got to this point by 8pm (and the kid's bedtime).

I will keep you posted how it goes... but I am hoping to have it finished by the weekend (as there will be no clean laundry until I am done)

Back in the Electronic World...

Well 6 days without Power, and 14 days without internet made us feel like we were isolated from the rest of the world... but now we are back.

We managed to have a very peaceful christmas, with a somewhat presentable house and waffles (with all the fixins)... and a nice new year's party (where we stayed up until 5am)... and I got the most wonderful hair cut/color/style I have ever had... at about 2am (after drinks, fireworks, hot tub, etc...)

All in all, the year is off to a pretty good start (as long as the storms will stop and we can keep power, and trees from falling on our house - we are expecting another wind storm, and snow on Wednesday - keep your fingers crossed)

...and during all this calamity, Renee and I managed to make one awesome New Year's cake, etc... for a charity auction. Here are the pics:
